With Dr. Tara Travia

This training will review current research on identity and trauma, outline definitions of a healthy sense of self (self-identity), how a fractured sense of self may be inadvertently maintained through social media and culture, and how to gently aid clients in developing and healing their view of themselves as whole, healed, and healthy beings with the confidence to act upon their world in meaningful ways.  Using ACT and AIP/EMDR models, numerous exercises will be discussed as ways to help clients:

  • become more aware of their trauma-neutral identity

  • clarify current preferences, interests, needs, and wants

  • develop connections and actions goals related to these desires

  • discontinue reinforcing unhelpful narratives of self and build expansive narratives that support healing
